Ronald McDonald House CharitiesAlpha Delta Pi Sorority adopted Ronald McDonald House Charities as our national philanthropy in 1979. The mission of RMHC is "to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children." Ronald McDonald Houses allow families of seriously ill children to stay close to their child while they are being treated in the hospital, with little to no cost- $10/night at most. A true "home away from home." Since its partnership, Alpha Delta Pi has contributed over $11 million to this worldwide philanthropy. This contribution makes our national sorority the third largest RMHC donor, following McDonalds and Coca-Cola. Several times a month, sisters from Zeta Psi visit the local Winston-Salem, NC Ronald McDonald House. We prepare a home cooked meal for the families, complete any household chores that need to be done, or just chat with families who need a sense of fresh air. We collect pop tabs which RMHC can receive money for or sometimes the tabs are took and melted in large amounts to create a wheelchair for a child. This past year, we held our first annual Pop Tab War on campus with other greek organizations and athlete teams joining us in our efforts as a competition. Our chapter also raised enough money over the years to sponsor a room that families stay in at the Winston-Salem House!

Zeta Psi's Benefit Silent AuctionOur Silent Auction is held each spring, and is our biggest philanthropy event each year. All proceeds that are collected each year go towards the Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem. The Zeta Psi chapter is so lucky to be able to provide our volunteer services to an RMH that is so close to UNCG. We are very lucky to be able to contribute as much time as we do and to be given the opportunity to truly see the outcome that our hard effort gives to the RMH because of it. This past year was our 10th year conducting our Silent Auction, and we raised almost $12,000 to contribute to the Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem! While the event excites guests, as well as our sisters, it is an amazing opportunity to see all the hard work and months of preparation pay off.

On and Off CampusAlthough Silent Auction is our biggest philanthropic event, our sisters also hold other service events on campus and in the Greensboro community.
We have "Pie an ADPi" at least once a semester on campus and have also held "Paint a Pi". In 2017, we hosted our first annual "ADSpike" Sand Volleyball Tournament where organizations purchased teams and competed for the winning title. As a chapter, we have volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, LGBTQ+ organizations, Guilford County Animal Shelter, and raffled off a Harley Davidson Motor Cycle at UNCG's Homecoming. This past year, we also began the process of adopting Lake Daniel Park, here in Greensboro, which we visit and clean on a regular basis. In 2015, Alpha Delta Pi's Grand Council and Sigma Phi Epsilon's National Board of Directors formed a partnership to continue a conversation about a topic we believe is vital to ensuring the health and safety of our membership - sexual assault prevention. We recognize the need to advance the conversation about sexual assault prevention on college campuses. As fraternity brothers and sorority sisters, we can work to make a difference on our campuses - and we start by doing what we say we will do - live our oath. Not only do we support local, national, and international philanthropies, but we also participate in other campus organizations' service projects throughout the year. |
